Forest Schools

Linda Leyland, a Forest Schools specialist teacher, works with the whole school through the year to give the children valuable outdoor learning experiences. Over a series of weeks, pupils learn to build shelters and dens, make and use fire safely, and explore the natural environment. The focus for the sessions is outdoor literacy and the children do activities connected with a different story each week. Research has shown that this type of outdoor learning can improve physical, social and communication skills and in addition increases self-confidence, motivation and concentration.
